Basically, the Gouldburn Police were GREAT in this instance and I will always remember them thankfully for helping me out.

I had a fantastic experience with the Gouldburn Police Station. I am an American and I needed some fingerprints done, in ink, for security checks for an international visa. I hadn't realized this ahead of time, but fingerprints are kind of an involved process: you have to do roll-prints for all 10 fingers, then "stamp" prints for the same, then palm prints, then "cup-holding" prints (where your hand sits on the table while holding a cup -- apparently useful for identifying peeping toms). In my case I had to do this several times. After you're done, there is ink everywhere, including all over the desk. The whole process takes like 30 minutes of an officer's time, there is an inky mess that has to be cleaned up afterwards, and it can only be done when the booking room is open, i.e. when they are not processing someone who has been arrested.

My local police had a waiting time of 3 weeks (!!!) to get an appointment, which is ridiculous as that stalls the security check, which has to be done before the visa application, and the visa has to be done before I can move to my international job. I had allotted several months for all of this, but waiting 3 weeks just for fingerprints really messed up the schedule. Anyway, the locals just said sorry, but said I could call around. Many other police stations were not helpful and would only fingerprint people from that specific town (ugh!). However, in Sydney various stations said they could do it when they weren't busy (yay bigger cities), but then someone there suggested that Gouldburn was closer to me and I should try that. I called them, and a nice officer said it was no problem at all as they weren't booking anyone, and that I should drive over, and that he would call me if the booking room got occupied in the meantime so that I wouldn't waste the whole drive. We went to the booking room, did all the fingerprints I needed, complete with helpful tips, the officer filled everything out, and I was on my way and mailing them to the various needed authorities that same day.
